While the Tsum Valley trek is not as physically demanding as some of the more severe treks in the area, it still demands a high level of fitness and preparation.
The trail features multiple high passes and steep segments, making it tough for beginners and inexperienced trekkers. It is very important to make sure that you trek under the guidance of an experienced trekking guide and porter.
Altitude can play a significant role but the gradual increase in elevation gives your body a time to adjust, reducing the risk of altitude sickness. By saying that, staying in nature means we always need to react to how nature reacts.
We always need to be prepared for changes in weather or the trail condition, as the condition totally depends on nature.

The finest seasons for trekking are spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November).
Tsum trek is also accessible even in the monsoon/summer season from June to September. Other trekking regions of Nepal often experience a lot of rainfall with muddy trails, while the Tsum valley route remains pleasing and peaceful.
The spring season is also a bonus of nature as the flowers grow and color the hillocks. From morning to night, the temperature usually changes from 6 to 25 degrees.
The autumn season is also regarded as one of the most favorable seasons for trekking. Sky conditions are favorable, and temperatures fluctuate between 0 and 25 degrees. The Himalayas and the valleys that surround them are immaculately viewed. This season is unique due to the tranquil environs, favorable weather, and lush vegetation. Many travelers prefer this season to enjoy their trek in Nepal because it is neither too frigid nor too hot.
Trekkers ascend to elevations over 3,000 meters (9,842 ft) during Tsum Valley Trek, which can increase the risk of altitude sickness.
Headaches, nausea, disorientation, fatigue, and shortness of breath are among the most common signs of altitude sickness. It is essential to identify these symptoms at an early stage in order to prevent the development of additional complications, which can range from mild to severe.
Getting altitude sickness is common at high levels. However, young people, persons living at lower altitudes, and those with breathing problems are more vulnerable to altitude sickness. Nevertheless, the experience can be truly thrilling, adventurous, and exciting if one is well-prepared for future challenges and takes the necessary precautions.
Training your body is the best way to prepare for the Tsum Valley Trek Nepal. If you can, go on a few short hikes with a loaded backpack. Additionally, do cardiovascular exercises like jogging, running, long walks, cycling, swimming, and climbing stairs as a way to stay in shape. Similarly, you might work on developing your muscles and core strength.
A single day of walking will involve numerous ascents and descents. The trail is rugged and requires long walks. The air thins as you rise in elevation, and the cold temperature could affect you. We do not mean to scare you, but if you are not physically fit, Tsum Valley Trekking can be a nightmare for anyone.
This is not a luxurious trek. Don't expect a fancy retreat. No matter how high you are, teahouses are pretty basic yet comfortable.
The Tsum Valley Trek also includes overnight stays in locally owned tea houses and lodges. The rooms are usually simply furnished with two beds that can be shared and a common bathroom.
Lodges are easy to find on the lower, more elevated lands. At the same time, it may offer modern amenities that you are used to in the city.
However, as you go up higher, you may not be able to find these amenities anymore, such as hot showers, free charging for electronics, and other things
Local tea houses offer traditional Nepali meals like dal bhat, as well as basic Western dishes.

Food choices may vary following the seasons/availability and can be very limited in the higher regions.
Drinking water is accessible throughout the trekking routes. The teahouses sell bottled and boiled water. You can also get water from natural springs. We recommend you to bring water purification tablets or a water filter to purify the drinking water from streams and taps. Bottled water is pricey on the journey, and the cost rises as you travel higher.
Public buses, shared jeeps, and maybe private jeeps for the first and later parts of the trek from Kathmandu are the primary means of transportation for the Tsum Valley trek.
The Tsum Valley is a rural and less-traveled area in Nepal where means of communication appear to be huge urbanization but are quite limited. Only a few lodges or tea houses offer WiFi for an additional charge.
You may recharge your phone (and other stuff) at teahouses for an additional charge, and there is mobile network service in some villages. A few teahouses may offer internet access, and your mobile data plan may function in select areas. However, nothing is guaranteed.
