From Porter to Mountain Guide | Journey of Krishna Prasad Khanal
Born in the shadow of Manaslu in Gorkha, Krishna Prasad Khanal has spent over 20 years walking the trails of the Nepal Himalaya. With one of the most extensive trekking records in the region, he has guided travelers through nearly every major route in the country, from the high passes of Kanchenjunga to the sacred valleys of Manaslu and Tsum. His decades on the trail have given him not just technical mastery of mountain terrain, but a deep, lived understanding of the villages, traditions, and people along the way.
His guiding philosophy is simple: save nature, keep it green, and respect the culture.
Review
The trek to Manaslu was incredibly beautiful. Our guide, Krishna, was super friendly and very reliable. The route planning was excellent, and we always felt safe. Overall, a fantastic experience at a very fair price. So, if anyone is planning a trekking trip with this company, I highly recommend asking for Krishna.
I recently completed a trek with Hidden Trek Nepal, and I can’t say enough good things about the experience – especially thanks to our guide, Krishna.
From the moment we started, Krishna was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the mountains, villages, and culture, but also warm, encouraging, and attentive to everyone’s needs. He kept the group motivated, ensured our safety, and always had a smile – even on the toughest climbs. His deep connection to the region made the experience feel truly authentic.
What really stood out was how Krishna went above and beyond to personalize the journey. Whether it was finding the best teahouses, adjusting the pace for different trekkers, or sharing local stories and traditions, he made sure everyone felt included and inspired.
I felt safe, informed, and totally taken care of – all while enjoying the incredible beauty of the Annapurna region. If you’re planning a trek in Nepal, I highly recommend Hidden Trek Nepal, and if you’re lucky enough to trek with Krishna, you’re in for a truly unforgettable experience.
Thank you, Krishna and Hidden Trek Nepal, for a journey I’ll never forget!
