Tandrang is a small hill village where daily life still runs on farming, family, and neighbours helping neighbours. This 5 day homestay itinerary is built around slowing down, staying with a local family, and being part of the village for a few days. We don’t do anything extra, we quietly participate in the day to day lifestyle of the locals in everything they do.
You will wake up to the sound of the village instead of traffic. Mornings start with a hike to a viewpoint, afternoons are spent learning to cook local food or just sitting with the family, and evenings end with home-cooked dinner and conversation by the fireside.
Your visit gives something back to the village while spending time in the local school and being part of the women empowerment project.
Tandrang Village sits close to the Manaslu and Annapurna region, which makes it a natural stop before or after a longer trek. If you are planning Manaslu Circuit trek or any other linked route trekkings, you can add a day or two in your itinerary and spend time here.
If you are a solo traveller, beside picnic arrangements and group activities, you can be part of the community any time.
No. This is an easy trip suitable for almost anyone, including families, first-time trekkers, and older travellers. There are no technical sections and no high-altitude risk.

A: No. This is an easy cultural and homestay trip, not a technical trek. Basic fitness for a few hours of daily walking is enough.
Q: What is the longest walking day?

A: Coverage can be limited in parts of the village. It is best to let friends and family know that communication may be patchy during your stay.
Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) are the best seasons to visit Tandrang Village. Skies are clearer during these months, mountain views from Tandrangkot are at their best, and the weather is comfortable for daily hikes.
Winter is still possible if you are prepared for cold mornings and evenings. Monsoon season (June to August) brings heavy rain, which can make trails muddy and reduce mountain visibility, so it is not the ideal time for this trip.
If you would like to stay longer and explore the village at your own pace, extra days are available for USD 10 per day. This includes homestay accommodation, two local meals, and free time to explore independently.
You will stay with a local host family throughout the trip. Rooms are simple, and bathrooms are typically shared with the family. This is not a hotel-style stay, it is a real homestay, which means you eat what the family eats, sleep under the same roof, and get an honest look at daily village routines.
All meals are cooked at home by your host family, using local ingredients. Expect Dal Bhat, seasonal vegetable curry (Tarkari), and homemade pickle (Achar) as the daily staples, along with a hands-on cooking lesson on Day 2. If you have any dietary restrictions, let us know in advance so your host family can prepare accordingly.
Transport to and from Tandrang Village is by local bus. Roads leading into the hills can be a little bumpy, but the ride itself offers good views of the surrounding farmland and hills as you leave the city behind.
